Meet Dr. Steel

Dr. Kathia Steel

Prosthodontist

Dr. Steel has called Texas home for over 34 years with the last 19 years in the Dallas area, more specifically, the Park Cities area.

Dr. Steel’s father was a highly admired and loved physician in Mexico. Dr. Steel grew up witnessing how her father loved to interact with his patients and how he made a beautiful positive impact on their lives. Dentistry provides Dr. Steel the ability to follow in her father’s footsteps by caring for and influencing the quality of her patients’ oral health.

After earning her undergraduate degree from The University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas, Dr. Steel attended The University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School in San Antonio where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery. She was immediately accepted to Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas (now known as Texas A&M College of Dentistry) where she completed her Residency in Prosthodontics and Master of Science as well as taught the undergraduate dental students. Following that, Dr. Steel became a full-time faculty member in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas where she taught and practiced for over 10 years. In 2010, Dr. Steel became a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontists. In 2012, Dr. Steel fulfilled her career goal of owning her own private dental practice.

Dr. Steel’s passion for dentistry propels her to be involved in the Dallas dental community. She has served on the board of the Dallas County Dental Society and the North Texas Hispanic Dental Association. She is the co-founder of the Dallas Women Dental Society. Dr. Steel also enjoys interacting and learning along like-minded colleagues in multiple study clubs, including the Seattle Study Club and SPEAR Education. Dr. Steel maintains memberships in the Dallas Dental County Society, the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the American College of Prosthodontics, the American Board of Prosthodontics, the International Team of Implantology (ITI) and the Academy of Osseointegration.

Despite having a busy schedule Dr. Steel does not cut back on providing her family with all the time they need. Having been raised by a strong and tight family she recognizes the importance of family. Dr. Steel and her husband, Jason Banks, have three daughters, Sadie Ann, Vienna Andrea, and Milan Sofia. She and her husband enjoy being involved in their University Park community. Some of her involvement includes volunteering and being part of the PTA at her daughters’ Robert S. Hyer Elementary School and McCulloch Intermediate School and participating in the annual Rotary Club of Park Cities 4th of July Parade. In addition, Dr. Steel tries to find time for a little exercise and pursuing her love for travel.
